My name is Fran Semley and have been retired from teaching for 10 years. I taught mainly kindergarten at Holy Name in Welland for 26 years. I am married and have two grown children, Jennifer and John.
I have 2 grandchildren-Ben 4 and Emilie 2. I am still teaching but a different clientele but love it nevertheless. I enjoy reading, golfing, a good movie and being out with friends. As I raised our family there wasn’t much time to volunteer. Before the grandchildren came along my husband, Dave and I volunteered at Ronald McDonald house in Hamilton. It was such a feeling to help the children and families. I also volunteer presently at the gift shop at Welland hospital.
When COVID came along the hospitals weren’t the best place to volunteer so decided to help with Meals on Wheels.I really enjoy helping these people out and for some people we may be the only person we see all day. I decided to join the board and enjoy the interaction of such a great organization.
We are very fortunate to have such a great team of volunteers and board members here at Meals on Wheels in Port Colborne.
